What Got Shipped Today - 21/10/26 - Notices that track every answer, a solvency check before you pay, and retention you can reconcile
Published: Wednesday 21 October 2026 Today's launch window lands squarely on the money side of the Builder's Wheel: notices that show exactly who still owes you an answer, a solvency check before you pay a subcontractor, and retention you can finally reconcile at a glance. Features Track every company's answer on a notice "As a contract administrator, I want to see which companies still owe me a response on an RFI, so I can chase the right people without opening every email." Before: A notice showed a single "awaiting them" status. Issue to three companies and you had no quick way to see who had answered and who had gone quiet. After: The notice page now has a response rail with one row per company and a clear state for each: awaiting, responded, responded (manual), not required, or removed, with a note on how it got there. The header reads "Awaiting 2 of 3", and the register row uses the same wording. As the issuer you can mark a company responded, ask again (a reason is required and a fresh response request is sent), switch a company to FYI, or remove it. A company that never answered before the notice was closed now reads "no answer, closed", so the record of who stayed silent survives. The composer also groups recipients under "Who needs to answer?" and nudges you when you add more than two To companies. Impact: Chasing responses becomes a glance, not an investigation. * Each company carries its own response state. 2. Row actions such as Ask again sit right under the company, so you can chase or settle one company at a time.* Subcontractor solvency check before you pay (NZ) "As a commercial manager, I want to know a subcontractor is in liquidation before I approve their payment, not after." Before: Nothing on a payment schedule warned you that a New Zealand subcontractor was in liquidation, receivership or administration, or had been removed from the Companies Register. After: When a subcontract payment schedule is submitted for approval, approved at each step, or accepted directly, the platform checks the subcontractor's live NZ Companies Register status and shows it. If the company is in liquidation, receivership or administration, you see the appointees and must tick "I acknowledge" before you can continue. If the check could not run (no NZBN, unverified NZBN), you are told why, and it never shows as clear. Every check and acknowledgement is recorded on the schedule's Activity tab. Impact: No more paying into an insolvent subcontractor by accident, with an audit trail that proves the risk was seen. * The subcontractor's register status, shown on the Submit for Approval step (example company, appointee names hidden). 2. The acknowledgement that must be ticked before the schedule can move on.* Known limitations: New Zealand subcontractors only. Nothing is shown for companies outside NZ. Retention history: taken and released, side by side "As a commercial manager, when a subcontractor queries their retention, I want to show how we got to the number without rebuilding it claim by claim." Before: A retention record only showed releases. To explain a held balance you had to open Progress Claims and read each claim one by one. After: Opening a retention on Subcontract Retentions or Head Contract Retentions now shows a Retention history: every certified claim that withheld retention (claim number linked, date, amount taken), every release, and a running Held total that ends exactly on the balance in the register. Impact: Retention conversations start from one reconciled history instead of a spreadsheet. * The new Retention history table: retention taken per claim, releases, and the running Held balance, reconciling to the total held.* Improvements Find retentions by subcontractor or client name Before: The retentions registers did not show who the retention was held against, so you had to open records to find the right one. After: Subcontract Retentions now has a Subcontractor column and Head Contract Retentions a Client column. Both are sortable, and search matches the name, including partial names. Impact: Find the right retention in seconds. * The new Subcontractor column, showing who each retention is held against. 2. Search now matches subcontractor names as well as subcontracts.* Cleaner pickers in Preconstruction Before: Estimator pickers listed deactivated users, and Subcontractor Tendering project pickers listed archived projects. After: Both show only active people and live projects. Impact: Less scrolling, fewer wrong picks. Tidier margin bridge on the Financial Summary Before: On negative bar values the minus sign could wrap onto its own line. After: Negative values read cleanly on one line. Impact: The margin story reads at a glance. Fixes Notices bulk Export to PDF includes every selected notice Previously some selected notices were left out of the export. Approval status refreshes straight away The subcontract drawer, the Approval Route dialog and the PO Register now update as soon as you submit or approve. Switching projects loads the right data The project selector now loads the new project's data immediately, with no refresh needed. New PO form shows the correct cost code Remaining The figure now reflects other POs approved on the same code. Subcontract Register tiles count correctly Active subcontracts and SOPA risk now match the register. Subcontract jurisdiction tag matches everywhere The drawer and the register now show the same tag. SOV Builder columns no longer overlap at narrow widths Typed text now lands in the field you meant. Subcontract variation attachments appear immediately Uploaded files show in the list as soon as they finish uploading. Claim leakage panel links both sides of a variation Subcontract and head contract variations raised from the same departure now link correctly. Got feedback on today's updates?
