What Got Shipped Today - 16/10/26 - A programme that moves both ways, transmittals to anyone on the project, and drag-and-drop on every form

Published: 16 October 2026 Features The programme cascade now pulls tasks in as well as pushing them out User Story As a project manager running a live programme, I want successors to follow my edits in both directions and milestones to stay at zero days, so the Gantt shows the real plan without me dragging tasks around by hand. Before The cascade only ever pushed successors later. Shorten a task and everything after it stayed put, so planners moved successors by hand. Milestones set to 0 days came back as "1d", and the dependency picker was a flat, unsorted list. After Change a task and its successors now move both ways, to the earliest date their links allow, and the moved dates show on screen straight away without a reload. Edits that would move 10 or more tasks ask you to confirm first, and an end date before a start date is refused. Milestones show as 0d, with a Milestone switch in the task drawer, and typing 0 in the grid turns a task into a milestone. The dependency picker lists tasks in programme order, with WBS groups collapsed, each row showing its number, WBS and dates, and new links default to finish-to-start. The Pred column blocks circular links. Also new: a "Start from predecessor" button, optional hourly times shown on the Gantt bars, a Delete Selected button, and the grid keeps your scroll position and collapsed WBS groups after a save. Impact The programme behaves like a scheduling engine, not a drawing. Pull a task in and the whole chain follows, so the dates your team and your subbies see are the dates the logic says. (1) The task drawer's new Milestone switch and optional hourly times. (2) "Start from predecessor" sets the start date from the task this one depends on. Known limitations Hourly times are off by default and only change how times are shown, not how durations are counted. Transmittals reach anyone on the project, even without access User Story As a document controller, I want to send a transmittal to the client, a consultant or a subbie's estimator straight from the picker, so I am not setting up portal access before I can issue drawings. Before The transmittal recipient picker only listed people who already had access to the project. Reaching anyone else meant adding them as an External Stakeholder and granting portal access first. After The picker has a new group, "On this project, no access yet", listing people from your PO and subcontract companies, the client and External Stakeholders, each tagged with how their company is on the project. Each person gets their own email with a no-login link to that transmittal's documents. Tick "Also give project access" for people already in your workspace. A "This project | Company Directory" switch lets you search the whole directory: pick someone whose company is not on the project and, when you issue, the company is added to Project Settings > Team as an External Stakeholder. "+ New contact" saves a new person to the Company Directory so they are there next time. Impact Issue first, admin later. Drawings and documents reach the people who need them in one step, with a record of who received what. (1) The new "On this project, no access yet" group: everyone gets their own no-login link to the documents. Known limitations Notices will move to the same picker next. Drag and drop documents straight onto any form record User Story As a site manager closing out an inspection, I want to drop the certificate straight onto the record, so it is linked and filed without a trip to Project Documents. Before Linking a document to a site form meant uploading it to Project Documents first, then linking it one document at a time. After Every DS Site form record in the Deep Space web app (Site Inspection, Permit to Work, ITP, SWMS, Site Diary, RFI and more) has a drop strip under Linked Records. Drop a file and it is filed into that form's folder in Project Documents (for example Forms > site_inspection), then linked. Link Record now opens one "Add from Project Documents" window with Explorer, Document Register and Upload from device tabs, so you can pick several documents and upload new ones in a single step. Nothing uploads until you click Link, so Cancel leaves nothing behind. Impact Certificates, test results and photos land on the record they belong to, and in the right folder, in seconds. (1) Uploads are saved to the form's own folder, with a per-file Change option. (2) The new drop strip under Linked Records on every form record. Quantity Takeoffs: import measured items from Excel User Story As an estimator who measures in a spreadsheet, I want to bring my take-off sheet straight into a takeoff package, so I am not re-keying hundreds of quantities. Before Takeoff items had to be measured on drawings or added one at a time. After Takeoff packages have "Import from Excel" next to Add Item. The import finds your header row under any title rows, reads quantities, units, buffer percentages and rates, and leaves out subtotal and total rows so quantities are not counted twice. Cost codes from the sheet are matched where possible, and anything that does not match, or matches more than one code, is flagged for you to pick. Imported items are tagged Imported and flow into the linked estimate like any other takeoff item. Impact Your existing take-off sheets become live estimate quantities in minutes, with every row checked before it lands. (1) Subtotal and total rows are left out so nothing is counted twice. (2) Cost codes from the sheet are checked, and anything ambiguous is flagged to pick. Known limitations The buffer % on imported rows is stored but not yet shown in the items table. Rotate site photos in bulk User Story As a site manager, I want to turn sideways photos upright in one go, so my photo reports read properly. Before Some portrait photos showed sideways in Site Photos, and there was no way to turn them. After Select photos (or a whole day) and click "Rotate…" in the toolbar, or rotate a single photo from the lightbox. Choose 90° left, 90° right or 180° and Apply. The rotation runs in the background, shows progress in your background projects, and carries through to thumbnails, album covers, ZIP downloads and PDF photo reports. The rotation is lossless, and the photo's original date taken is kept. Impact Clean, upright photo reports without downloading, editing and re-uploading. (1) Pick 90° left, 90° right or 180°, and every selected photo turns at once. Procurement steps in days, with an owner and an action item for each User Story As a contracts administrator setting up a procurement package, I want to plan each step in days from the one before and put a name against it, so long-lead items are chased before they bite. Before Every activity step needed a date worked out by hand, steps had no owner of their own, and following one up meant creating a separate action item and keeping the two in line yourself. After In Procurement > Procurement Schedule, each activity step has a Days | Date switch. Enter a number of days and the date is worked out from the step before (the first step counts from the Procurement Start Date), or pick a fixed date for anything tied to one. Switching never moves a step, and "Set all to Days / Date" switches every step at once. Steps belong to the package's Procurement Owner by default, can be handed to someone else, and follow the package if it changes hands. In the package drawer's Progress tab, "Create action item" turns a step into a Delivery Action Item, assigned to the step owner, due on the step's date, with the usual reminders. The step then shows the action item's live status with a link to it, and flags any later change to the step's date or owner rather than changing the action item behind your back. Impact Lead times become a plan with names and dates against it, and every step lands in someone's Action Items. (1) Days or Date on every step. (2) Switch every step at once. (3) Each step has its own owner, defaulting to the package owner. Known limitations Procurement Start Dates are now exactly the Required On Site Date minus the Planned Lead Time. A few packages previously showed a day earlier and correct themselves the next time they are saved. The Excel import still takes dates rather than days. Design Tracker: run your design pipeline before it becomes an opportunity (Beta) User Story As a design manager at a design and build builder, I want to track every project through our own design stages and hand it to the construction team on the same project, so design work is not living in a spreadsheet beside the platform. Before Design work had nowhere to live. The Opportunity Tracker starts at the opportunity, with fixed stages, so design managers tracked concept, consent and detailed design in their own spreadsheets, and the project only appeared once construction was being priced. After Preconstruction > Design Tracker (Beta, above Opportunity Tracker) is a board of design items moving through your workspace's own design stages, set up under Stages. Every stage is typed as open, handoff or complete, so you can name them your way. Stage count tiles, Active Designs, Design Pipeline Value, At Handoff and Design Complete sit across the top, with filters for sector, design manager, status and value, and a $ total under every column. Each card shows the value, % complete and what it is linked to. Creating a design creates its project straight away, at a new first lifecycle stage, Design (DES). The drawer holds the stage plan, linked records and a timeline of comments. "Hand over to construction" creates an Opportunity or a Tender on the same project and moves the project to that stage, while "Mark design complete" closes out design-only work without converting it. Impact One project from first sketch to handover. Design-only work is tracked and finished properly, and won design work flows into the Opportunity or Tender Tracker without re-keying or a second project number. (1) Your own design stages. (2) The design item is linked to its project, opportunity and tender. (3) Close it as design-only, or hand it over to construction. Known limitations Design Tracker is in Beta and off by default. Turn it on by ticking Design Tracker > View for the roles that need it in Roles, or ask the Deep Space team. The project lifecycle now has five stages, with Design before Opportunity, so Design (DES) appears in Project Settings in every workspace. Improvements E-signing captures the signed copy every time When the last signature lands on a subcontract, purchase order, head contract or proposal, the platform now saves the signed copy to Project Documents and marks the record executed in the same step, with retries and a scheduled check running in the background. Nothing depends on someone clicking Check or Refresh, and a record can no longer show Executed without its signed copy on record. A subcontract signed outside Deep Space is recorded with its uploaded executed copy. The completion email now goes to the builder as well as the subcontractor, revising a proposal clears the previous client's drawn signature, a builder-signed subcontract keeps the correct signing order, and head contract e-signing emails the client their signing link with the project name. One agreement source per subcontract A subcontract now takes its agreement from exactly one source: a Contract Template, an approved document template, or the system default. Every surface (Agreement tab, Documents tab, Overview download, Send, Create and Edit) uses that same source, so the document you preview is the document you send. A subcontract on a Contract Template shows that contract everywhere, with no document template picker. A linked document template follows its family through new published versions, and archiving or deleting the last published version that live subcontracts print from is refused until they are moved. The Contract Template editor also warns when a name matches an approved document. The Contract Templates and Document Templates guides in help search are updated to match. (1) One agreement source drives preview, signing and sending. (2) The signing order stays as set. (3) Signed outside Deep Space? Upload the executed copy and it is recorded as the signed agreement. BoQ Tender Responses: one row per trade on multi-trade packages When you add a BoQ item from Tender Responses, multi-trade packages now show a row for each trade, with each trade's own figures and award, instead of whole-package figures only. Payment schedule submit says what actually happened When "Auto-approve within submitter's authority" is on, submitting a subcontract payment schedule now tells you whether it was auto-approved, partly auto-approved or sent for approval, instead of always saying "Submitted for internal approval". Opportunity and Tender Trackers open on Pipeline Both trackers now land on the Pipeline board, and the toggle reads Pipeline | List. List is still one click away. (1) The toggle now leads with Pipeline. (2) The board is the first thing you see. Fixes The Tender Packages register shows every package The register no longer stops at 50 packages. Every package now loads, and search and filters reach all of them. Invoice line matching no longer counts an approved invoice against itself An approved invoice that exactly used up its PO line no longer warns that it exceeds the line's remaining balance. A second invoice against the same line still warns as it should. Have feedback or an idea? Share it through the feedback portal in the platform. We read every one.
