What Got Shipped - 23/9/26 - Drawings you can see, SWMS that follow the project, and subbie variations that price themselves

24 September 2026 Features See your drawings, not just their numbers: a thumbnail view for the Document Register User Story As a site manager, I find a drawing by looking at it. The Document Register gave me a column of document numbers, so I scrolled a list trying to remember which number was the level 3 slab. Before The Document Register was a table and only a table. Thumbnails lived in the detail drawer, one document at a time. After A two-option toggle on the register toolbar switches between Table (still the default) and a thumbnail grid. Each card leads with the sheet itself and carries the fields that identify it: number, title, revision and status, plus the approval verdict. The grid is the same register underneath, so your filters, search, sorting and selection all carry across, bulk actions still work from the cards, and a PDF export still exports exactly what you are looking at. Your choice of view is remembered per project. Impact The people on site can browse the register the way they read a drawing set: visually. The document controller keeps the dense table. Same records, same filters, two ways of reading them. Known limitations Large registers load thumbnails as you scroll rather than all at once, by design, so a 400-drawing register stays quick. The Document Register in the new thumbnail view: each card leads with the drawing itself, with its number, revision and status underneath. SWMS that belong to the project, not just the company User Story As a construction manager, every project has its own risks and its own safe work method statements. The platform only linked a SWMS at company level, so the one my people signed was not necessarily the one for the site they were standing on. Before Site inductions could already be bound per project. SWMS could not. They stayed generic, which is exactly the wrong way round for a document that exists because every site is different. After Project Settings > Site Induction is now Site Specific Forms, with a row for each form a project binds. Alongside Site Induction there is now a SWMS row: choose the DS Site form for that project's SWMS and the platform provisions it the same way it already does for inductions. Each row reads and writes only its own binding, so changing the SWMS never disturbs the induction. And if a save fails part way, you now get a clear message that it is safe to retry, instead of a form quietly half set up. Impact The SWMS a worker sees is the one written for this job. That is the difference between a compliance record and a liability, and it now sits in the same place as the induction, set up the same way. Known limitations A dedicated project SWMS QR code is not part of this release. More form types will follow in the same panel. Project Settings > Site Specific Forms: bind the project's own Site Induction and SWMS forms, or leave a row empty to keep the workspace default. Subcontract variations arrive on the head contract already priced User Story As a contract administrator, importing a subbie's variation onto a head contract variation brought every line in at $0.00 sell. If I missed one, the client was billed nothing for work we had already paid for. Before The import copied cost across and left sell at zero. The project and cost code margin defaults that already worked in manual entry were ignored here, and nothing stopped the same line being imported twice. After Each imported row now picks up its Markup % from your defaults (cost code override, then group, then workspace, then project) and shows where the rate came from. Sell is calculated from cost and markup, and a sell rate you type is kept exactly as typed. Subcontract cost is locked to the source line, with an "Unlink to override" action for the rare correction. Apply a bulk markup across selected rows, and see Cost, Sell and Margin summarised on the import button before you commit. A row with cost but no sell shows a warning (it does not block you). Lines already imported anywhere on the project show "Imported into" the variation they went to, and cannot be selected again. Impact Passing a subbie variation through to the client becomes a pricing decision you review, not a sheet of zeros you fill in. No more unbilled lines, and no more double-billed ones. Importing from a subcontract variation: Markup % and sell calculate per row, a bulk markup applies to selected rows, and a line already imported shows exactly which variation it went to. Improvements Compare Bids: adjustments and risk allowances you can trust Before Named adjustment lines on a bid did not survive a reload, only their total did, and saving from an empty panel could silently zero a stored adjustment on the very screen awards are decided from. The adjustment row overflowed the bid drawer, the open drawer blocked the Details buttons on the other bids, and each category allowed only one named line. After Named lines are saved and come back when you reopen the bid. Saving over a stored adjustment that has no breakdown on file now asks you to confirm, showing both figures, and an empty panel says what is stored instead of reading "Total 0". The row fits the drawer. The drawer header steps between bids with previous and next, so you can move across the comparison without closing it. A bid can carry more than one line per category, Fixed price and NTTs now default to Risk, and amounts display in the project's currency. Impact The numbers you normalise bids with stay put, and the award screen can no longer lose a loading behind your back. Folder uploads explain themselves Before Upload a folder whose files were cloud-only placeholders (a common OneDrive setting) and the browser handed over nothing, or one file out of seven, with no message. A folder dropped onto a single-file upload could even create a record that would never open. After A folder with no readable files shows a notice that names it and explains the OneDrive fix ("Always keep on this device"). Each folder shows its own file and subfolder count before you upload, so "1 file" stands out. Unreadable items are skipped and the rest of the drop carries on. Single-file drop zones (Version upload, Upload Revision, Bulk Revisions, Submittals and Split Drawing Set) now refuse folders outright. Copy progress now points you to Recent jobs, with a View progress button. Impact Moving a project's documents in on day one stops being a guessing game. Manual entries only offset the commitment you link them to Before A manual entry on a cost code automatically used up any open PO or subcontract balance on that code, related or not, so Committed could read tens of thousands of dollars low. After The manual entry form has an optional Offsets PO / Subcontract picker. Only a linked entry offsets that commitment. An unlinked entry counts in Committed in full. The Committed tile shows the gross manual total (matching the Manual Entries register) and names an offset only when there is one, the cost code drawer gains an Offsets column, and the definitions in the info panel and tooltips now state the rule in plain language. Impact Committed reconciles to what your team can add up by hand: approved POs, plus approved subcontracts, plus manual entries. The manual entry form with the new Offsets PO / Subcontract picker. Leave it unlinked and the entry counts in Committed in full. A tidier subcontractor portal Before The subcontractor portal carried a Photos section with no stated purpose. After Photos is gone from the portal, leaving subcontractors with the menus that map to real work. Fixes The Budget Register Variance tile reads the right way round Before A positive variance (under budget, by the platform's own definition) showed in red as "over budget" on the summary tile, while the cost code drawer showed it correctly. After Positive reads as under budget in green, negative as over budget in red, matching the rest of the register. The Project Inbox fills the window Before The three-pane Project Inbox stopped partway down the screen, leaving a band of empty white below and a page that scrolled into nothing. After The panes stretch to the bottom of the window, the page no longer scrolls, and the email list is the only thing that does. More emails on screen, no dead space. Spotted something, or want to tell us what should come next? The feedback portal is in the Deep Space web app, and everything raised there lands in front of the product team.
