Custom Fields on Contract Profiles
As a contract admin, I used to raise a dev ticket every time a job needed a field we hadn't built into the contract form. Now I add my own fields to any subcontract or head contract profile and have them flow straight onto the generated PDF, without waiting on us. Before The subcontract and head contract forms only carried the fields hardcoded for each standard form (AS 4000, NZS 3910, SA2017, SC-1). The moment a job needed one more, a site allowance line, a debtor code, a bespoke clause reference, the only path was a new dev ticket and a wait. After A Custom Fields button now sits on both the Subcontract Register and the Head Contract Register. Pick a contract profile, add your own fields (text, number, date, currency, dropdown, yes/no, or long text), mark each required or optional, and they render in a clearly separated Custom Fields section on the form. Values save against the contract, show in the drawer, and print on the generated PDF alongside the standard-form fields. Impact The recurring "this customer needs a field we don't have" queue turns into self-serve configuration. Fields are scoped per profile, so an AS 4000 subcontract and an NZS 3910 head contract each carry their own set, no bleed between them, no dev cycle each time. How to use it Go to Commercial, then Subcontractors, then Subcontract Register (or Head Contract (Client), then Head Contract Register for client-side contracts). Click Custom Fields at the top right of the register. Select the Contract Profile the fields apply to (for example AS 4000 / AS 4903 Base or NZS 3910:2023). Click Add field. Enter a Name, choose a Field Type, and tick Required field if it is mandatory. For a dropdown, enter the options. Click Create Field. Reorder or edit fields with the arrows and pencil icons. Repeat for other profiles as needed, then Close. Create or open a contract on that profile. Your custom fields appear in their own Custom Fields section below the standard-form fields. Fill them in and save. Generate the PDF. The values print under a Custom Fields block and also show in the contract drawer. Known limitations Custom fields are scoped to contract profiles on Subcontracts and Head Contracts only, for now. Not yet available on claims, purchase orders, or variations, and there is no conditional logic between fields or reporting on custom values yet.
