Share a folder with a link. No portal, no login.
Most subbies, consultants and clients will never log into a portal to pull a drawing. They want a link they can open. So that is what folder sharing now is. Flip one toggle on any folder in Project Documents and Deep Space generates a private link you paste straight into an email or a message. Whoever opens it sees a clean, read-only view of that folder and everything in it, and can download what they need. No account, no setup, no portal to learn. Flip Share Public, copy the link, send it Open the folder, turn on Share Public at the top of the Permissions panel, and a shareable URL appears with a Copy link action. Paste it into an email to a subbie or a client. They click it and land directly in the folder, read-only. The link carries a long, unguessable token, so only the people you send it to can reach it, and it only ever exposes that folder and what sits inside it, nothing above it or beside it. The receiver just downloads what they need No instructions required. Whoever opens the link can grab a single file from its row, tick a few files and Download selected as a zip, or hit Download all to pull the whole folder, subfolders and structure preserved, in one zip named after the folder. Zipping happens server-side and streams, so even a heavy drawings folder downloads cleanly without locking up their browser. You stay in control of what is exposed Public is visibility and download only, never edit, never upload, never comment. You choose which folders to make public, and public folders carry a clear badge in your tree and list so you always know what is out there. Turn the toggle off and the link dies on the spot: the URL stops resolving and every download endpoint behind it rejects. System folders and top-level company roots cannot be shared at all. Why this matters On a live commercial job you are sending drawings to dozens of subbies, consultants and the client, often the same set, over and over. The old way meant adding each company to the portal one at a time and hoping they would log in to find the files, which most never did. So drawings went out as email attachments, got stale, and nobody could tell which version anyone was holding. Now you send one link to the live folder. Everyone pulls from the same place, you revoke it the moment a relationship ends, and the files stay where they actually live, in the platform, instead of scattered across inboxes. How to use it Open any folder in Project Documents, go to the Permissions panel, and turn on Share Public. Copy the link and send it however you normally reach that person. To stop access, turn the toggle off. The existing one-to-one "Shared with" list and Share Folder button are still there below, unchanged, for the cases where you want a named company to work inside the portal. What this replaces for builders Adding every external party to a portal one by one and chasing them to log in, or falling back to emailing drawings as attachments that go out of date the moment you send them. Now sharing a folder is a toggle and a link, read-only by default, revocable any time, with the files staying in the one place your project lives. This is v1, built around the link because that is how external parties actually behave. Gated access, link expiry and per-recipient control are next if you need them. Deep Space is built in Australia and New Zealand, for builders here, and your feedback decides what we build next. Tell us what you need on this page, or reach the team any time at deepspacegroup.ai.
