Hit go. Walk away.

Long jobs in Deep Space now run in the background. KAI keeps working. You keep working. Nothing holds you hostage. Walkthrough Step 01 / Trigger — Hit Split Hit Split with KAI. A toast tells you the job's been queued. The bottom-right tracker shows the job in progress. You can leave this page now. Step 02 / Keep working — Anywhere in the platform You move to Supply Chain. You raise a PO. You reconcile an invoice. You join a meeting. The job keeps running. The tracker travels with you. Step 03 / Done — Recent jobs panel Click the clock icon from any page. Recent jobs panel opens. The split is complete. Click Review to step into the split pages, rename or archive what isn't right, hit Done. The drawings land in the folder you started from. 03 / Before / After 04 / A new pattern for long jobs Three principles. They apply to every job that comes next. This isn't a one-off improvement to drawing splitting. It's a system change. The principles below apply to every long-running operation in Deep Space, today and going forward. Async by default. Long jobs go to the background automatically. The user doesn't have to think about it. Visible everywhere. The tracker sits in the bottom-right of every page. The clock icon in the global header shows active jobs from anywhere. Recent jobs panel opens with one click. Notified, not nagging. A toast confirms the job's started. A notification fires when it's done. No spinners. No watch-and-wait. No choosing between the job and your day. The result is a platform that respects your time. KAI does the heavy lifting in the background. You do the work that needs you in the room. 05 / What's now in the background Drawing splitting is the first. More follow. | Job | Status | |------|--------| | Drawing Set Splitting — KAI splits a bound multi-page PDF into individual drawings, names them, lands them in the folder | ● Live | | Bulk Metadata Extraction — KAI reads drawing titles, numbers, revisions across a folder and registers them | ● Live | | Future KAI operations — Anything KAI does that takes more than a moment | Auto when ready | Because the system is generic, future long-running operations don't need bespoke async handling. They opt into the pattern and the tracker, toasts, and recent jobs panel all light up automatically. 06 / How to use it You don't, really. That's the point. Hit Split (or any other long-running KAI action) the same way you always have. Get on with your day. The tracker will follow you. Click the clock icon in the header from any page to see what's running, what's done, and what needs review. What this means Deep Space · Construction runs better here · Published 25 April 2026
